Overview[]
The Venom Crossbow is a Epic variant of the Assault Crossbow released on August 19th, 2020.
The Venom Crossbow differs from an Assault Crossbow as it inflicts less damage, slows down the enemy, and causes the enemy player to gradually lose HP for about 5 seconds at the same time. The damage is about ~45-50 on impact and another ~10 due to the effects of the crossbow's poison when fired in single-shot mode - dealing a total of 60 damage to the player excluding armour points. This damage also takes into consideration a player's protection so for a player with 50% protection, the actual damage to the HP of the enemy player is 22-25 from impact and another 5 from the poison; while taking off 22-25 Armour Points from the hit and 5 from the venom. This makes the Venom Crossbow less effective against tankers as a primary weapon and should not be used as a primary, rather, as an ambush weapon to slow down the enemy player before switching quickly to your primary weapon. When firing all 5 arrows at the same time, each arrow's impact damage is weakened to around 15 damage and another 10 from the poison.
The Venom Crossbow is considered to be the weakest variant of all the crossbows despite the Epic status it has. Like all the other crossbows, its takes skill and experience to use this weapon effectively as it takes time for the arrow to travel to its target. When either a friendly or an enemy player is hit with the Venom Crossbow, it will show foot-bleed animation similar to a player stepping on Caltrops.
The Venom Crossbow can either shoot single arrows or fire off all 5 simultaneously. This means you will have only 2 X 5 shots giving it a really low ammo count, with the Explosive Crossbow having lower ammo count at a total of 3 arrows. When firing all 5 arrows simultaneously, the damage from each arrow is a lot weaker, dealing about 15 damage on impact per arrow while slowing down the enemy.
In Quarantine Regen mode, the Venom Crossbow will also slow down zombies and inflict raw damage (as zombies do not have protection armour points). However, players are better off using more powerful explosives.
This weapon can be obtained from Special Weapon Mystery boxes for either 30 days or Permanent, or it can be purchased for Permanent on a "Today's Offer" special for about ~1,400 GC (subject to price changes). The Venom Crossbow is a good suppression and ambush weapon, and players should not run around and kill with it like an Assault Rifle.
