Quickscoping is something that has been around ever since multiplayer FPS games were introduced. It refers to the technique of using what is usually a one-hit-kill sniper rifle and quickly scoping in on the enemy at close range to kill them. If successful, this can be incredibly effective. Of course, it takes quite a bit of practice before one can take out tons of enemies with their sniper at close range. There are many tutorials on the internet, but the best way of learning how to quickscope is to practice it yourself. Now, there are a few different types of quickscoping. They include dragscoping, quickscoping, quickswitching and Flickshotting. Each will be covered in detail below.
Dragscoping[]
Dragscoping is the quintessential technique for quickscoping. To dragscope, you merely have to scope in quickly, drag your crosshair to the target, and shoot. Over time, you`ll begin to get a sense for where the center of your crosshair is and start to truly quickscope. It's suggested that people who dragscope use a sniper with a L96A1 type scope, as higher magnifications are harder to drag more effectively.
True Quickscoping[]
Like no-scoping, true quickscoping relies on knowing exactly where your bullet or crosshair is going to go. Usually it helps to wait until you see an enemy`s name before you scope in so you know your sniper is aimed dead-on. When you successfully quickscope, you shouldn`t have to drag your scope at all in order to shoot the target. Many "pro" players like to show off by featuring this style of quickscoping in montages, especially when it`s coupled with quickswitching.
Quickswitching[]
Quickswitching is the practice of rapidly switching to another weapon, usually a knife, and back to one`s sniper after quickscoping. It can also be done by switching to one sniper, firing, then switching to another sniper and repeating the process. Doing this resets your sniper`s spread and allows you to chamber the next bullet faster in most cases. Switching from your sniper to your knife, and then back to the sniper can be done by pressing, "QQ" on your keyboard in quick succession. Many players often set the "Previous Weapon" command to their mousewheel to perform this action quicker. For many people, this is the hardest style of quickscoping to master. If a person truly has mastered this, the crosshair of their gun should only be visible for a split second before they fire and switch. Alternatively, one can set another sniper to their next backpack slot, so you only have to press "Q" once. When one combines this with true quickscoping, they can devastate other players and get incredible kills.
Flickshotting[]
Flickshotting is the most difficult type of quickscoping. A Flickshot is basically a quickscope followed by a 90°+ spin. Flickshots are normally performed to show off the player's skill.
Trivia[]
- Many people make videos on Youtube to show off their Quickscoping skills, as it is a difficult technique to master.
